I’m an addict!
‘HitchPod’, a podcast hosted by Cat Jones and Dan Liebke, is an absolute utter triumph. It is the only podcast that I have ever loved enough to loyally follow and eagerly await more of, rather than just dipping in and out when I fancy (as with most other podcasts). The format is one of watching a Hitchcock film every month and the pair discussing it, ranging from their own personal opinions to specific Hitchcock Movie Checklist items, such as the MacGuffin and cameo. Cat and Dan pour their heart and soul into every episode and the atmosphere in general is so friendly and relaxed. There’s just enough talk about camera angles and film history to keep film buffs happy, but otherwise it feels like two mates having a chat about a mutual love of Alfred Hitchcock. A must for any Hitchcock fan, but equally brilliant for newbies. You will particularly enjoy their bonus Patreon episodes in which they Hitchcockify (their own made-up term) a non-Hitchcock film, including classics like Bridget Jones’s Diary, Love Actually, Pirates of the Caribbean, Titanic, Four Weddings and a Funeral, and Pride and Prejudice, amongst others. Worth every penny. Marvel fans will also enjoy their attempts to tie every film into an ingenious “Hitchcock Cinematic Universe”, in which every film is interlinked and takes place in the same world. There’s even a website devoted to it. Genius. Last but not least, another USP of this show is that it is hilarious and very down-to-Earth. “Jamaica Inn” was my first episode, and I’d personally recommend starting with that one because it is a perfect example of the pair’s trademark humour. Classic. Could not recommend enough.

I see what you did there. While this free version features good—but somewhat lesser films—a visit to the link offers the entirety of Hitchcock’s oeuvre… at a cost. This podcast, though entertaining, is what’s known as a honeypot. Three stars for the bait and switch.

They’re charismatic and it is interesting hearing different opinions. I think some of their problems with the Hitchcock films would either be explained and/or justified if they did more research ahead of their podcasts….

I was excited to find this podcast series but immediately turned it off when I heard the host's INCREDIBLY ANNOYING AND GRATING Australian accent. No matter how interesting the content, if both hosts aren't pleasing to the ears, listeners move on. What a bummer.Read full review »
