The show feels exploitative
Very early in the season, the journalist states that he doesn’t think the story should be told. He later says that the parents and families who were victims of the hoax don’t want to be involved and fear that this will stoke up more interest and anger from cranks on the internet. Yet he ploughs on builds a series from other people’s misery. It’s well told, and shocking enough to be gripping, but I question the need for and ethics behind the show. I just hope the families from the list don’t suffer further abuse because of this show.
