Epiphany moments
This was a great conversation! There were a few epiphanies. Many moons ago I trained labs adversely for hunting. I trained other dogs too, adversely. I thought that you had to be dominant to have control and it also gave me an avenue to”vent” some of my internal frustrations of feeling a victim in life. (Sorry for the life story but but wanted context). It’s so great to know that in Britain, where I grew up amongst the stalwart farming/estate owning die hard lot that positive reinforcement training is happening! Can’t judge them, just forgive myself for past transgressions. Been there done that. The epiphany moment in the conversation particularly happened when Nick said that these positive methods are far more effective - so, so true and soooo rewarding! Owning a Griffon pup at 4 months who sets off after some crows off leash and comes back when called so happily - OMG your heart leaps! Thanks so much for chipping away at the generations of old schoolers with your podscasts! Fantastic! Looking forward to hearing more.
