Dense, Pastoral Refleciton
I have been a Homebrewed Christianity faniac for awhile. I love the theological nerdiness embodied in their interviews and conversations. This Lectionary podcast is an excellent addition to and extension of their commitment to providing zesty theological resources in service of the church. Daniel Kirk knows his bible; the biblical focus paired with a pastoral zeal for the living presence of the God made known to us in scripture makes for a dense reflection on the biblical texts. As I have listened, I have also appreciated the ways that they make connections between the lectionary texts. In preaching classes, we often get told that we ought to focus on 1 text so as to give a true focus and clear message in our preaching. But the connections they make between the various texts in the lectionary truly enrich any focus that you might pick from a given set of texts. This is excellent; I am deeply indebted to them for the insights and energy they bring to biblical reflection, and I would recommend it to anyone who cares about inviting folks into a living, life-giving relationship with the bible. You'll love it.

Dr. Kirk is made for this. And Tripp, as always, is wonderful too. I am loving this new addition to HBC.

I'm not a pastor, so I won't be listening for sermon prep help. Rather, I enjoy the podcast as Bible...Read full review »
