Lean into the experience of female founders - aka gender
Really like the content and the women being interviewed, though I wish Julia the journalists would interview with more of a gendered lens, it seems even though this is focused on women’s experiences… she the interviewer has her gendered blinkers on in her questions… it seems it’s not hitting the mark or what the podcast is trying to achieve… lots of the women who are interviewed push back and I would love to hear more about the gender barriers and I would love the interviewer to dive deeper and question her own biases (which come out very often in the questions she poses!) an example is in todays episode. Teena speaks about her experience as a female founder in meetings and the way she is treated, the research on female founders (basic stuff here) tells you her experience is the norm, not as Julia say ‘that’s how you feel’ and Teena replies no that is how it is… this is the stuff that frustrates me as a female founder listening… like dive into that you guests are speaking the the specific experience as a female founder and you just gloss over it and your response speaks to the misogyny and patriarchy that is in play when your entire podcast is interviewing women… this is the experience… speak to it!

More reviews of How I Made It
Though a bit niche in nature, this is a very good podcast that is delivered in an informal, entertaining format. I’m about six episodes in, and I would say Episode 3, Tony Walls, is my favourite so far. Keep up the great work and thanks for a good production.
