Regularly listen to the podcast. Just had to grit my teeth listening to Anne Applebaum and her very one-sided views on autocracy, and the dangers of foreign countries meddling in the sovereignty of other countries. On discussing the history of democracy in Latin America, there was the expected attack on Venezuela (Anne is let’s it be known she is close to the opposition) but what really irks me is that she mentions China, Russia and Iran, fair enough without ANY mention of the numerous interferences that have come from the USA. Why not? Cuba, Honduras, Panama, Haiti, Nicaragua, Chile… It comes across as ridiculous that a serious academic does not accurately consider wider perspectives and important aspects of their thesis. Fair play to Vassili Christodoulou for accurately pointing out that the bad “Eastern” autocrats are generally facilitated by the corrupt “Western” financial systems.

Lots of smart people talking about a variety of social and political topics. The variety of people and topics is one of the best parts of this podcast - it’s a great way to discover new intellectuals and ideas to investigate further.
