Secret Mission and Humility
Just catching up on your podcast with Mike this week. Your conversation around the secret mission was phenomenal. Now bear in mind I’m in the UK so our society is very gun-less. I remember when I was about 14/15 I was an Air Cadet, and we were on Camp at an RAF Base. Part of being on Camp was to be trained on how to go onto the shooting range. We had to practice how to load, discharge and use a semi automatic rifle. The weapons weren’t live. It was just training. All my friends were being very macho about it, and figured out how to use the weapon with no issues at all. I however experienced this block in my mind. I couldn’t figure it out. And there was a moment I was staring down the barrel, in this underground car park where there were like 100 cadets learning what to do, and I just remember this thought “I’m being trained on how to use a weapon that is designed to kill someone” I started crying. And not just a tear or two. But it was a prowler uncontrollable cry. I felt terrified, I felt overwhelmed and I felt very scared. Not only was I the one person who didn’t get it. But I had true fear in my life about learning how something like this works. To say a gun is terrifying is an extreme understatement. That moment scared me so much. I just couldn’t wrap my head around the sheer power that my finger had, nor how devastating that power could be. It’s so refreshing to hear you talk about how scary this stuff is. I’ve since managed to fire weapons for fun and for films, but I almost wish everyone would be able to have that thought that hit me. And what you experienced, the fear is humbling, and that lesson is a very important thing to understand. It gives you an understanding on the fragility of life and how we should never take it for granted. It was a terrifying experience, but one that was crucial to go through. Thanks for speaking about it. It’s made me feel a lot more ordinary for my experience rather than being a wuss my entire life. 👍👍👍

Thanks guys for going into detail about how to apply the science to clients - e.g when HIIT is best to program and it’s limitations. Have always heard that HIIT is king - always good to know that with beginners - it’s probably not the best tool for the job. Keep up the great work - looking...Read full review »

I am about to start getting in touch with gyms and see if they’ll let me intern for free andI’m hoping somewhere will take me soon! I...Read full review »
