(19)15 - Armenian Genocide, Women's NT Friendly Tournament Success, Armenian PL Updates, Transfer Rumors, and More.
Description
Every year during the month of April, Armenians from all over the world mourn and reflect on the events that occurred in 1915. The Armenian genocide was the systematic killing and deportation of Armenians by the Turks of the Ottoman Empire. In 1915, during WWI, leaders of the Turkish government set in motion a plan to expel and massacre Armenians. By the early 1920s, when the massacres and deportations finally ended, 1.5 million Armenians were dead, with many more forcibly removed from the country. These events are what coined the term genocide: a premeditated and systematic campaign to exterminate an entire people. However, the Turkish government still does not acknowledge these events.
Today we take the time to reflect on the genocide and how it pertains to football. We discuss the Armenian Ladies' tournament success and talk about some NT player news as well as provide an updates on the Domestic League and Cup in Armenia.
