“Was a good premise but the acting is pretty melodramatic, and way too soon as well. There’s no build up so the pacing is off. Also, it seems like whomever wrote this just found out about the meme/saying “main character energy,” and has grown fixated on it. Kathryn mentions it about six times in four episodes. For a person pursuing a PhD and who has had, presumably, a top tier education from the highest academic institutions in the country, you’d think she’d be more versed with a better vocabulary and means to contextualize how she feels. Instead, she appears to “echo” everyone else’s analyses ie immediately repeating her mother’s analogy of the greek myth. All in all, this had potential in plot but is pretty bad.
For a similar concept (a child or children uncovering corruption performed by their billionaire parent), a better well written and acted podcast to consider us Wondery’s Bad Blood. That one is much, much better at building up excitement.”
