“I have really been enjoying the podcast. It is amazing because sometimes a podcast will come out that is dealing with the exact same issue I am going through. I have a question for the podcast. I am not sure if this is more of a language learning question or a social etiquette question. Here I go anyway. Being monolingual for most of my life, I know what it feels like to be left out of a conversation when others are speaking another language. Since I have been learning Spanish, I have come across opportunities to speak it in social situations. If there is one other person that speaks Spanish and everyone else in the group only speaks English, I often stick with English. This is so everyone can talk to each other instead of having a separate conversation. Is there a time where I should forget social etiquette for the sake of language learning? Or should I always put language learning first? Thanks again Olly for a great podcast.”
