Who Moved My Cheese episode October 2024
It’s hard to believe that I knew a Boomer lady who was frustrated that her husband wasn’t earning enough in the late 1990s, so she (suggested at her corporate secretarial job) bought her husband this book for Christmas in the hope that it would inspire him to be more of a “go-getter” as she called it. (Happy to report she’s since converted his long-term depression into early dementia & started getting big fat disability checks not only from here in USA but from the European country where she originally bagged him. Now all they do is sit around and drink on their brand new boat) when not taking several braggy-destinations vacations per year.)

Once again, Michael Hobbes breaks down cultural influences, viral ideas and mainstream nonsense. This is very much in line with what I love about all of his work. The doctrinal throughline is this: True things are always messy and complicated and that’s okay.

The Michael Hobbes multiverse is doing more for my media literacy skills than my MLIS. I love this premise on principle and in practice; it holds up better than a Leavitt study under scrutiny. 5🍏/5🍊

These guys are so full of themselves. The book, as I remember, was entertaining, and actually perfect for a plane trip, but not worth the amount of time they spent analyzing it. Kinda a Bevis & Butthead snicker job. Therefor Worse than the book! Duh!
