“I was introduced to this show due to listening to All My Fantasy Children as in the more recent episodes they mention other podcasts on the Moonshot podcast network. That is also a fab show to listen to!
Riley Hopkins And Their Amazing Friends is a brilliant example of an actual play podcast.
The Star Wars inspired episodes are great, they build on the universe by adding new characters, storylines and places. I really enjoyed it from start to finish, it’s amazing. Riley, Vida, Sender and Ty are brilliant at voicing their characters as well as doing some of the sound effects. It’s well thought out all the way round and is very fun!
After that we have some short episodes that throw together random characters to play poker or uno. The poker night at the podventory is my favourite one, it’s absolutely hilarious. The characters round the table for that are Superman, Joey Wheeler from Yugioh, Anakin from Star Wars and Kermit the frog from the Muppets! And if that doesn’t tell you all you need to know about how funny it is I don’t know what will. I appreciated the Yugioh references a lot, it gave me serious nostalgia and now I want to rewatch it.
Then we get into the most recent episodes, which are The Dragon Ball Uuber saga. They are so good; you can tell how much Riley, Jeff and Chris love the Dragon Ball universe and it’s characters. They bounce off each other really well and it is a joy to listen too. The filler episode of Goku getting divorced is really funny; because it causes absolute mayhem for the characters!
Overall Riley Hopkins And Their Amazing Friends is a wonderful podcast to listen too; it will brighten your day, make you smile and will probably make you want to rewatch some of the shows they pull characters from.
