“My husband, kids and I live in Sac and loved the downtown redevelopment. We were sickened by the mistreatment you suffered in the name of “justice”. We were never basketball fans here, but were big time fans of our community and DOCO. It has been ravaged in the name of “justice” and continues to suffer from obscene, hateful graffiti every weekend and endless nighttime marches with bullhorns in people’s faces. These are based on people not peeling back the layers and considering the whole situation.
Individual communities cannot process every event that happens across the country. Social media has placed an undue burden on each community. We need to take care of our own. We had 11 people shot and a 9 year old killed in a drive by while she tried to play in Sac park on Sunday. There is a cry for justice, it it is not answered in anarchy and violence.
Your plea for reason and mutual respect is a way forward for our community. Thank you for helping young people go to college and thank you for being true to yourself and encouraging others to do the same.
We were Dodger fanatics up until they ruined one of the only escapes from the swirl of insanity and violence in our community. We have not watched a game since and we will not go to games under the current social/political climate. Baseball gave us a way to unite and cross political, cultural and economic boundaries. We loved Chavez Ravine for that reason, and all our Dodger blue fans we discovered we moved here 4 years ago. Now if you see Dodger gear, it’s a mutual, despondent shrug.
Here’s to better days ahead led by mutual respect and the fun we used to have getting lost in a game together.”
