Description
Every parent, especially mamas, wants only the best for their children. They will give up so much to ensure her family is cared for. But no matter how hard they try, things may sometimes end up differently than they had hoped. “Mama Tried” is about a good woman who had never been out into the world. She wanted the same simple life for her son. But the son, Merle Haggard, wanted to go out on an adventure and got in a lot of trouble. We can't blame his mama. Today, Blu and I share how this song reminds us of our wonderful mamas. I hope it tugs at your heartstrings, too. So, join me and Nashville recording artist Blu Waters, the voice behind the songs we feature in each episode. The same songs guide the reading from my soon-to-be-published book I’m Just a Country Song: Three Chords and Only My Truth. “I'm a rebel child in that I chase my dreams head-on, whether I'm scared or not and regardless of what other people say. And I'm not sure if I'm living the life exactly how my mama would have envisioned it, but I do believe that my mama is proud of the woman that I've become.” - Blu Waters In This Episode: - Where did Merle Haggard write the song “Mama Tried”? - A lesser-known fact about the song - Why the song chose me - Was Blu a rebel child? - Let's sing along with Blu as she sings “Mama Tried” - Chapter reading - Teaser and quiz for episode 5 (“Truth About You”) Connect with Blu Waters: Website - https://www.chooseyourblu.com/ Website - https://dot.cards/blucrew Facebook - https://web.facebook.com/iambluwaters/ Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/iambluwaters/ TikTok - https://www.tiktok.com/@iambluwaters Youtube - https://www.youtube.com/@iambluwaters Connect with Darlene Chambers: Website - https://fullcircles.biz/ Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/darlene.chambers.37625/ YouTube - https://www.youtube.com/@ImJustaCountrySong
