Narcissistic Abuse
I loved this episode, which feels uncomfortable saying, but it met so much of my experience with relation to the “mother wound.” I listened to an audiobook called “Daughter Detox: Recovering From An Unloving Mother.” That was the first time in my life that I heard my experience quantified. Dr. Abernathy’s statement about “you only get one mother” dogged me most of my adult life - although my mother has been deceased for almost as many years as I’ve been alive. As a Black woman, this episode was so valuable to me because I heard other Black women validate the mother wound. I mean it’s just not something we talk about in the community. Your mama?! Nope, nope, nope don’t talk about mama, especially when she’s the only one holding you down. Thank you for this episode. It was the episode I didn’t know I needed.

I listened to the introduction episode about Valerie and it almost brought me to tears. The transparency of this is going to break barriers and heal so many people. I look forward to listening to more. Thank you Dr Phillips!
