Today we’ll feel and experience Griffith Park featuring an interview with incredibly talented David Melville!
David Melville is co-founder and Managing Director of ISC (Independent Shakespeare Co.). He is the writer and composer of Red Barn, which performed in the Independent Studio in the fall of 2012 (redbarnthemusical.com). With ISC, he has played many of Shakespeare’s leading roles, including Hamlet, Richard II, Iago, Macbeth, Henry V, Benedick and Leontes. He also plays the clown, as evidenced by ISC turns as Costard, Launce, Sir Toby, Touchstone, Stephano and Dr. Pinch (with spinoff band Dr. Pinch and the Pinchtones). His London appearances include the Almeida Theatre productions of Hamlet and Ivanov (both featuring Ralph Fiennes), Mother Courage (with Glenda Jackson) and Henry VI in The Wax King (The Man in the Moon). On Broadway, David made his US debut in Hamlet at the Belasco theatre in 1995. On TV, David created and starred in the Travel Channel comedy series Lawrence of America.
Film appearances include: Ironclad (with Paul Giamatti, Derek Jacobi and Brian Cox); The Understudy (with Aasif Mandvi and Marin Ireland) and Perfection (with Christina Beck). Earlier in his career, he was a private detective and then brand ambassador for Bombay Sapphire. He traveled the United Sates preaching the virtues of gin and discussing golf with liquor executives. David trained at the Webber-Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art, London.
