“Pros:
The content is/could be interesting and the time it must have taken to reach into what appears from the outside to be an extremely anonymous community and pull folks out to be interviewed is impressive. My hat is off to you for the work clearly put in.
Cons:
But why? I’m struggling to see the mission of this podcast. What angle are you attempting to show? Is there a story? Even just a general idea? Is this about the birth of incels (in which case we can wander over to Today Explained to hear the founder speak about it)? Is this a story about the humanity behind the “community” of incels? Once getting beyond episode one there is not a theme within in the episode, much less a larger theme/point to the series. I think this is why it feels like you’re simply giving a platform for incels (who so far are 100% male) to amplify their opinions. If the goal is to humanize these men you gotta dig a little more. It feels very surface level and awkward.
I would have gone with 4 stars but that last episode where you blasted your reviewers? That was a waste of time and effort and was super off putting. Let the negative people roll of your back, this is the internet in 2019 after all.
Overall, I appreciate the material and subject... I want to love this & walk away feeling like I have a new perspective/more information. Instead, I feel like I’m listening in on a series of odd phone calls. Please consider sitting down and writing one sentence with an intention/mood/message(anything directional) for what an episode will be before editing so that there is a coherent point.
Thank you for putting the time in. Thank you for branching out. I appreciate the idea, and I will keep listening with the hope of improvement. Stay well, keep going (:”
