“This "Left Wing, dirt worshipping host" is the total package. Fire Lyte blends the heavier intellectual topics with light-hearted humor. His delivery is full of passion and a kind of humanity that makes you feel as though he's sitting in a room with you and the other listeners delivering an engaging seminar about whatever 'riot' he has planned for that day.
His background in Sociology really comes through when he discusses current news topics or a discourse on education and tolerance. He extolls research and living a thoughtful, informed life which is something that everyone, Pagans or otherwise, would do well to take heed of in the day of buffet like information on the net. He doesn't at all come off as a raving and ranting left wing idealogue like the title might suggest but rather he does a successful job of "lighting a fire under conventional thinking" as I've found myself questioning and looking for answers for the things I've just taken as fact.
Far beyond armchair commenting and academic bloviating, just at the height of high level thinking, Fire Lyte slips in his own poetry or a song, and not always a 'pagan' song, that ties the episode up neatly. And the wonderful word-of-the-day segment is a cherry garnish on a podcast that really is food for thought.
The way he segnments his podcasts into 'riots' is a great device. So far I've not mentioned how his podcast is pagan but the 'spiritual riots' are no less thought provoking than any other segment. And the overall podcast has a refreshing air of everyday life from a pagan standpoint and is not just the 101 fare or personal journaling that is common in pagan podcasts.
In summary, a really educated, engaging podcasts and if I had my way, it'd be on my local NPR station right with All Things Considered and A Prarie Home Companion. Well, maybe not... I have a feeling that would Incite a Radio Riot!
Don't ever podfade, Firelyte, and even if you cross over to a new path, take us with you!”
