As an adoptee and a donor…
…Ancestry has been central to my life for the last two decades. As an adoptee who unexpectedly found my birth father on Ancestry, I couldn’t understand the complexities of the void we feel when we don’t have the answers as well as the fear of betraying the parents you’re raised with. Also, on the other side of the coin, as a young 20 something, I thought donating my eggs to help another couple couldn’t be more straightforward. I wanted to help a family. Now, being 40, I can grasp the lapse in ethics when it comes to children not being informed. I also deep down dream of being contacted one day on Ancestry by the children I know were conceived. It’s a complex mystery. One I never stop thinking about. This podcast hits so close to home and it has been so relatable yet also eye opening in different ways. I can’t wait to see how the story unfolds. Thanks for sharing.
