After the encounter of Cain and Abel, Adam and Eve and their descendants continue to fulfill God's command to fill the earth. Some notable descendants and their attributes are mentioned in the remainder of Genesis 4. Certain descendants are called out as the fathers of different groups of people.

Continuing our study of the Book of Genesis, Adam and Eve have been expelled from the Garden of Eden and are adapting to their new normal in the now-fallen world. Returning to our study of the Book of Genesis, Adam and Eve have been introduced to temptation and deception, and consequently disobeyed God. They are facing Him for the first time since that occurred and have found that the relationship has changed. We look at how God responds to the change. Will he make good on what He said would happen should they disobey? Will His love toward this "very good" portion of His creation change?

At this point in our journey in Genesis, Eve and Adam have fallen to temptation and have eaten the fruit of the forbidden tree. It has changed their world in unexpected ways, and they try to respond and adapt to their new understanding. In our lesson today, they encounter their creator, God, for the first time after that experience. Can they keep their relationship with God the same after that pivotal decision?

Adam and Eve lived in a paradise with God, which enjoyed together with God gave to them with only one prohibition. While the Bible does not tell us how long they were able to avoid that prohibition, there came the day when the temptation was set before them that challenged them to doubt their trust in God and to face their first consequences.
We continue our series in Genesis with, "Paradise Lost: The Fall," studying Genesis 3: 1 - 7.
