Canonical
This podcast is a highlight of my week. The conversations and debates about the contemporary indie scene are fun and interesting. Recommendation corner has a high hit rate for giving me some songs to put in rotation (I learn more towards Ian-core). However, the strength of this podcast to me is the diversions either deliberate or spontaneous into the unheralded gems of the last 30 years of Indie. Steve and Ian have been listening closely to indie rock for so long that even in their throwaway references I get led down a rabbit hole of great albums that would never be on any rolling stone or pitchfork list of era classics but oftentimes speak to me more than the celebrated canon. And of course, it’s just a pleasure to hear fun people talk tunes in an approachable way. Highly recommend!
