Rob Ruha
Music Artist
Rob Ruha (Te Whānau-a-Apanui, Ngāti Porou, Rongowhakaata, Tainui) is an accomplished academic, activist and singer/songwriter amongst many things. Through his various endeavours, Rob champions te reo Māori me ona tikanga and has had considerable impact on the landscape of the arts, particularly music, here in Aotearoa.
Rob’s Solo Artist career has seen him perform in front of many international audiences, collaborate with some of New Zealand’s finest musicians and open and support international artists such as John Legend and Justin Timberlake. He’s won numerous awards along the way including the Mana Reo and Worship awards at the AMAs earlier this week alongside fellow artists of Mōhau.
Whether it’s in music, film, art or academia, Rob Ruha represents te ao Māori with humility, pride and grace. He’s inspiring a new generation of Māori artists and leading a movement of activism through the arts.
This is his story.
