Description
Our Mission Statement:
Advancing the indigenous cultures, languages, traditions, and identities of the peoples and communities of the Pacific through education, outreach and new media.
The Need:
Indigenous Pasifika serves the indigenous and national peoples and communities of the Pacific by advancing their voice. This community includes Pacific Islanders, indigenous peoples through the Asia- Pacific Rim nations (including Hawai’i, Japan, the Philippines, and Indonesia), and diasporic Pacific Islander communities in the US, Australia, Canada, and Aotearoa-New Zealand. This underserved population faces significant challenges to heard in the larger global community due to a lack of support, historical injustices, economic inequalities and access to mainstream media. Indigenous Pasifika is uniquely poised to uplift the voices of the Pacific.
Our Projects:
We believe in being a voice for our community which also means being part of our community. We have several outreach projects to get indigenous and Pacific Islanders communities to work with each other and to encourage them to share, teach, and advance their cultures and communities.
