“Love Stirewalt and Eliana not only for their professionalism but also for their kindness and ability to give our second chances. I was hesitant to download the Cuomo episode but reminded myself that I - like y’all - must remain fair when passing judgment. Maybe he realized the errors of his CNN and ABC ways. Maybe he has been truly humbled. Maybe he wants to prove Dan Abrams right for giving him another platform. Heck, maybe with all the Stirewalt’s praises about Chris Cuomo, he has actually changed.
Well, that was a major disappointment. He still thinks very highly of himself, it seems, and he’s still catering to the ratings and his audience’s desires rather than actually reporting the news.
Eliana was very gracious but fair in her pushbacks, especially about the Cuomo’s show on CNN but he kept denying AND mansplaining her.
Stirewalt, as always, was ever so kind and friendly, but that allowed for Cuomo to gloss over his egregious mistakes. I get that Chris Cuomo has his particular audience but after listening to this episode and actually wanting to give him a second chance, I can only see him making the same mistakes - sooner or later - at News Nation. He is sharp, smart, and as Eliana said, “is an excellent writer”, and those can be very dangerous given how much he loves and is easily satisfied by praises about him.
Thank you for bringing us this interview and letting us decide for ourselves whether or not Chris Cuomo has been professionally redeemed. For me, he is not. As for you two, excellent job as always!
