From Weakness to Fortunate: Embracing Meekness
Listen now
Description
What is the significance of meekness in the Christian life? How does meekness relate to our personal circumstances and struggles? What is the relationship between meekness and happiness or joy? What assurance and hope does meekness offer to those who are struggling? Many of those listening to Jesus teach the beatitudes would have held themselves in low esteem, or meekness. These would not have been “proud” people. They’d been made to feel as though they were less than. ‌ They weren’t normal in many people’s eyes. ‌They weren’t folks you’d look up to in many cases. ‌It is likely that many of them would have felt lonely, forgotten, left for dead we might say. ‌ Can you relate? Have you felt this way? Maybe others consider you “abnormal” due to your circumstances. ‌ Your anxiety doesn’t allow you to enjoy the “normal” life others display. ‌ You rarely feel well physically, so you are to lowly to be as involved in everyday life as your friends and family expect you to be. ‌ It seems as though no one understands you. In today's message, "From Weakness to Fortunate: Embracing Meekness," we'll take a look at what Jesus was teaching in this beatitude. What is the attitude of meekness, and how does this show up in our daily walk with the Lord and others? Sound Bites "Our better testimony is the strength of our faith going through the trial." "Fortunate are the meek." "In himself, nothing. In God, everything."
