Some Good. Some Bad. Still Enjoyable
I've been listening since show 1. Overall, each show is getting better as R.B. finds his strides. You can tell that he enjoys doing the show and enjoys his topic. I do tell my friends to listen and I do not miss a show. There are just a few things that bug me enough to not give this 5 stars. Fortunately, they are easily fixable. What I like: • Not an annoying Fanboy- he loves Disney, but doesn't overdue his love for it in a freakish way. • Format consistency- he has a format that he pretty much sticks to. • Frequency- once a week is just right. The show would suffer from lack of material if it came out more than that. • Production- not bad for a podcast. Fairly clear. Some mishaps here and there, but these will get better since other issues have gotten better over the run. • Respectful- even when he disagrees with an opinion, he is still respectful of it. • Skipper Ben's Top 3 Lists- picks a topic, listeners write in, recap of the top 3. • WDW News- so many mistakes happen when someone tries to spread too thin. The Disney Co. is much too big to be covered by one site or podcast. Even the topic of "Disney Theme Parks" is much too big. R.B. touches on the other parks or corporate news every now and then, but stays focused on WDW. The only downside is that if you read Disney fan sites regularly, the news won’t be new. If you don’t, then this is a nice consolidated place to catch up. • Ride Throughs- the occasional ride through is nice. Having them in every show could be a bit much (for awhile, they were like that). • Restaurant Reviews- enjoyable brief segment. Everything seems to be "quite tasty" to R.B. ;-) What I don't care for: • Skipper Ben, The Former Cast Member- Ben did the Disney College Program a few times and that's all well and good. He sometimes comes across as being a bit pretentious in his "knowledge" because he was a Cast Member at one point in time. Being a Cast Member does not automatically make one an expert in everything about the WDW Resort. Ben comes across like this sometimes (as do other former Cast Members on Disney fan sites and message boards). Ok, you worked there. Now concentrate on your good segments like the Top 3. • Skipper Ben, The College Program Guru- Similar to the above, Ben presented himself as an expert on the Disney College Program a few times. He even went as far as saying he was a "recruiter" for the program. After listening to him and things he has said in various shows, I'm fairly certain that Ben was actually a student campus rep who assisted his school's recruiter in promoting the campus presentation. This could be a great addition to the show if the info provided was current and accurate and Ben acknowledged that he was just a former participant and helped his recruiter by hanging posters at his school. His heart is in the right place, though, so I can't fault him for that. • Figment on VMK- Segment great. Sound quality is awful. He can be long winded sometimes too. I’m sure that this will fix itself in time. If you like WDW, you will probably enjoy this show each week.

I have listened to this Podcast for a while and I really enjoy it. In response to some of the critism.... There is this illusion that the "internet" is free. I don't mind the donation requests. I think the folks who mind are the same one's who work on the "free" idea. The internet is free,...Read full review »

I enjoy passing the time of my commute by listening to the Inside the Magic podcast. Ricky keeps up on all his Disney information and gossip, which means I don't have to surf the net at work and risk getting caught by my boss!! I'm sure people on the train think I'm nuts when I'm laughing at...Read full review »
