A panel discussion with acclaimed hip-hop artist Brother Ali about the navigation of race, the influence of religion and political values on lyrical content, and art-empowered activism. Hosted by students from the Institute for Diversity in the Arts and the Muslim Student Awareness Network. The Institute for Diversity in the Arts is an interdisciplinary program in the humanities that involves students in the study of culture, identity, and diversity through artistic expression. Our mission is to create, support and advance powerful, collaborative and transformative arts practice and arts leadership.
