U.S. Representative Joaquin Castro joined David Gergen for a conversation on the House Foreign Affairs and Armed Services Committees. He spoke of the Latino population in the United States as an aspirational community working its way up the American socioeconomic ladder, and was hopeful for a compromise between both parties in Congress for a path to citizenship. He also elaborated on his theory of the American infrastructure of opportunity, including good schools, healthcare, and an economy built around well paying jobs.
