“I have always loved hearing Tim’s voice calling any game, and his appearances on the Le Bastard Show with Stu Gotz are always great.
This is a great podcast, and hearing this father and son duo talking about something they share a love for is priceless.
My love for baseball started with my Dad, who was turned onto the game by his Dad. My Grandpa, Don Eggleton, was a pitcher during his high school career( he pitched a no hitter his senior year) and he played for the US Navy during the Korean War(he served on the USS New Jersey.)
After the war, he was hired by the Oneonta Yankees to pitch against their lineup during batting practice. He was paid $20 a practice, and he always said that it was the easiest money he ever made. So the story goes, a couple of scouts came to check him out, but they said that he threw too much with his shoulder, and he would throw his arm out in the first season.
He didn’t care, though. He was happy taking their money to throw gas against the team.”
