Increased Sensitivity
I appreciate the goal of this podcast to raise awareness regarding the difficulty of getting out of relationships with abusers. I do find this second season really insensitive, however. The woman’s choice to enter a relationship with a severely mentally ill man in order to get back at her husband for cheating on her is highly ethically questionable. Mason’s abuse of Lora is inexcusable, but I also find mocking his psychotic break and saying “it’s difficult to read his police report with a straight face” when you know he is severely mentally ill pretty disgusting.

This is really sad. This woman was in a relationship with a man who was unmedicated, severely schizophrenic and violent yet they are trying to make sense of the issue. It’s pretty dark but they laugh about how ‘crazy’ he was.
