Southland rugby co-coach James Wilson joins Lachlan Waugh on It's Only Sport, previewing the first Ranfurly Shield match as part of the 2024 Bunnings NPC between Hawke's Bay and Southland in Napier this weekend. The Magpies won the shield off Wellington in 2023, and face their third defence against a Stags side who come off an encouraging opening-round win over Otago. Wilson and Waugh discuss the history of and passion for the Log o' Wood in New Zealand, what it feels like to win it (Wilson was part of the Southland side that won the shield in 2009 and 2011), and more.
