Practice, practice, practice.....makes human
I discovered this podcast not that long ago but it’s so good, I’m almost caught up with all the available episodes. It’s so good, it has made it on my nightly list of “things I am thankful for today” on more than one occasion. I thought I understood what Positive Parenting was, that reading books about it and comprehending the principles was enough. Of course, I was wrong. I knew what to do but kept failing and losing my cool, not responding as my child needed me to. What I required was a regular dose of reality, a constant reminder that this gig is tough and all I can do is keep learning, confronting my childhood “ghosts” and practicing self care and personal improvement. I also needed to know I was not alone. Casey’s genuine and positive delivery reminds me of that. Her candor, her from-the-trenches advice and awesome interviews regularly solidify the fact that parenting is a journey and that striving for perfection is futile. “Trust in the process” has become my current mantra.
