“I doubt any Jehovah’s Witness of sound mind would go see a medical doctor, dentist or any other important professional that does not possess legitimate credentials. Such as a diploma from an accredited university, a license from a state regulatory agency, or other such qualifications. I also doubt they would get X-rays done without the machine having passed a State certified inspection. Or have their house built by someone that isn’t a licensed General Contractor.
Yet when it comes to their eternity they choose blind faith. They trust the “New World Bible Translation Committee” without question, even though the members are anonymous and cannot show any scholarly credentials in Hebrew, Aramaic or Greek. And reject any accountability for errors from real scholars that have earned doctoral degrees in these ancient languages. Or even real Hebrews from Israel that read directly out of the manuscripts themselves.
Open any major English translation of the Bible and one of the first things you will find is the credentials. The ancient manuscripts used and the list of PhD’s who worked on the translation, including their scholarship.
Anyone can research the individual scholars just as one could with a M.D., D.D.S., Certified X-ray Technician or Licensed Insurance Agent. For someone to expose themselves to a professional without credentials could be extremely dangerous or even deadly.
No English translation is perfect however, while legitimate Bible scholars do make minor mistakes in the rendering of the Hebrew, Aramaic and Greek texts into English, the New World Translation intentionally changes the rendering of the text to conform to Jehovah’s Witness theology. Rather than conforming their beliefs to scripture, they alter Scripture to agree with their beliefs.
Anyone can learn the ancient languages by simply taking minimal effort, there are incredible resources available today. And with that will easily see the New World Translation is a perversion of the Word of our Creator and Saviour.
