Uday Mahambre is a writer, poet, lyricist, and businessman from Goa. Innately passionate about the written word, he has dedicated a substantial part of his life to Konkani Literature and has several popular works to his credit! He is the recipient of the prestigious Akashvani Annual Award for his feature titled Shrama Ev Jayate (श्रम एव् जयते!) in 1984. He has also won many accolades in poetry competitions including Konkani Bhasha Mandal, Gomant Kala Association, Saraswati Mandir, etc. He has played a prominent role in the Konkani movement since 1978, for the preservation of Konkani, the official language of Goa. In this episode of Kaavya with Bhawana Somaaya, Uday talks about the rich history behind the Konkani language and recites some of his works that are a reflection of the village where he resides.
