Fred Shoemaker
I am (was) a 22 handicap on Saturday. I listened to Fred Shoemaker interview, and without any practice, i stood on the first tee, and said to my fellow golfers, I’m going to enjoy my golf today. I started trying to feel where the club head was in my back swing. It removed all swing thoughts and enabled me to swing freely. I often have a chicken wing and have never been able to eradicate it completely, but I have never felt what it’s like to swing a club without a chicken wing, but I was able to feel on a practice swing what it felt like and how the face felt on the club. Ok I only scored 32 on this round. Today 2 days later I again tried to be aware of where the club head was, over the first 5 or 6 holes I was hooking the ball, not badly enough too lose the ball, but got myself in trouble. I managed to eek out a 1 or a 2 on most holes (stableford). I realised that I was stretching to hit the ball and the face was too open, moved the ball back in my stance and started hitting shots out of the middle of the club face, and managed to get 20 points on the last 7 holes. I was hitting the ball further and with more accuracy, hitting greens in regulation and managing to hit my sw different distances to get close to the flag. Our greens have been cored within the last 2 weeks so putting had to be firm and accurate. I came third in c grade and even starring down the last long par four, with the pressure of trying to end the round successfully, index 3, I managed a 2 pointer, with a 2 inch tap in. Thanks Fred and Carl - you have made an old man 66 very happy, very confident and I think a changed person.

Karl Morris is responsible for me going from an angry miserable 6 handicapper to a happier (ok we all have our moments!) more content and fitter scratch golfer. The fact that you can listen to this guy and his guests for free is an unbelievable resource. Everyone who wants to improve their golf...Read full review »
