Intergenerational Lesson in Critical Thought
I thoroughly enjoyed the inaugural episode of this podcast. What struck me toward the end and has continued to sit with me is the potential reach one such conversation holds. Delighting in pop culture spans all generations, and lands on the easier end of the spectrum of topics to offer attention to. I appreciate the arsenal of criticism and critical thinking being brought into the ever-evolving discussion around Hollywood and pop culture. The notion that politics should be separate from entertainment is laughable, given art and life have always been intimately intertwined. My hope is that learning to view music, cinema, and television with a more keen eye regarding social justices may one day bleed into how our society absorbs the written word and media--especially where the news is concerned. I find this discussion and its ability to be a gateway to responsible consumption of information vital, especially given reality television has birthed our worst president yet. Kudos, Ira. Cheers!
