“James’ flippant comment insinuating that US Navy aviators drank alcohol before flying destroyed his credibility as an historian. I served twelve years active duty in the Navy supporting carrier operations and I can 100 percent guarantee naval aviators DO NOT DRINK ALCOHOL before flying, nor have they ever. Any historian who obviously doesn’t have any clue how dangerous and exacting Navy carrier operations are should keep his mouth shut. Does he even have the slightest clue how dangerous it is to land on an aircraft carrier during the day, let alone at night? Certainly impossible under the influence of alcohol, but James obviously doesn’t know that. He should have done his research before making such a flippant comment.
Please keep your flippant comments to yourself and just talk about history.”
