The makers don’t know what they want the show to be
I am a massive fan of true crime podcasts and got very excited about a genuinely Indian true crime podcast that could match up to old-standing favourites like the Serial and True Crime Garage. While the attempts by the hosts deserve a pat on the back, what really ruins the whole experience is the overt politicisation of almost every episode. While I do tend to agree with some of their politics, if I wanted to listen to politics, I would listen to another podcast. Mostly because most of the political remarks are superficial and without any real research. Casual remarks thrown here and there which don’t really add to the story, just sound like fillers to add to the run time. I do understand that making a true crime podcast in India is very difficult due to the paucity of reliable information, but the people behind the show need to do a lot more work. Also, the sound quality needs to improve.
