“I’m a politics junkie who listened to this program to try to broaden my perspective. To give you an idea of my political perspective, I’m very concerned about issues like climate change, digital privacy, corporate greed, and America’s imperial wars. I wanted to like this show, as the host is a genuinely nice guy. Unfortunately, listening to this show often feels like I’m listening in on a conversation that was not meant for me. There is very little detailed discussion of ideas or issues. Instead, unlike what the podcast’s description claims, every single thing is wrapped in broad strokes of political ideology. “Free markets” are good, public policy is coercion. Or, private citizens should respect each other, unless one of them is a government worker (that means they’re trying to control your life, apparently?)
This show did help me to better understand what motivates the libertarian point of view: the emotional reaction of “you’re not the boss of me” to any law or rule they don’t like. And that Rep Massie is a raving lunatic who cares more about what he personally eats than the suffering and death climate change is already causing.”
