“Sexist trash that invites us to suspect women of wrongdoing because 1) a woman is divorced (and her husband says not nice things about her), 2) she’s intelligent and talented, 3) her story is consistent with two other women’s story (oh my god they’re all in it together!), 4) a woman accused a man of rape and charges were never filed (she must be a liar, right, because rape is always prosecuted and punished), and so on ad nauseum. I want evidence and motive to determine a person’s culpability. This show just plays on basic anti-woman biases in our culture to convict someone in the court of public opinion. Is it still entertaining? Well, it’s Dateline, so yeah...”
