“I lived on Sheepback Mountain at the time of this murder; in fact, my husband and I had been down in the town that evening, and came back up the mountain, and saw all of the police cars down on the driveway at their property. They lived significantly lower than we did because we were at 5300 feet, beyond the gate, she references, needing a key to get through it. And the area where Michael took Crystal to camp and to shoot and to abandon her was just above my house and then down in a beautiful meadow where elk now graze and drink from the pond.
Even before the murder, we speculated that it was just odd that he took his teenage daughter to camp while he rented out the house. And after the murder we again speculated that something was just not right. So now we know so much more. I just don’t think that Crystal received justice. I don’t say that she does not belong in prison, but she certainly was not allowed to present mitigating circumstances which are extensive, in my opinion, and I have a corrections background.
Kudos to the two women who have put this other. I hope that this results in someone gaining interest in this case, and that perhaps she can receive at least consideration for resentencing after presenting extensive mitigating circumstances.”
