“Having previously listened to We’ve got Worm and it’s follow-up in Ward, I loved the dynamic of these two just as much as the subject-matter, and I loved getting exposure to tools to use and terms for tools I was already using in literary analysis as much as both the others put together. I took a break, and coming back to this dynamic in Kingslingers was just a little bit like coming home, in a way. I missed following along as these two have really genuine, involved conversations about the minutest intricacies of a work of fiction more than I realized. The role-reversal works out spectacularly if you were a fan of We’ve got Worm, Matt’s intellectualism serves him much better in the role of one learning a work, and Scott’s innate enthusiasm works just as much better in the role of the one who already knows each part. If you’re coming in new? The back-and-forth nature of these personalities over the subject of a consistently engaging series of novels can give you plenty of new thoughts, or just give you new appreciation for the thoughts you already had... and also you should go listen to We’ve got Worm if you’re interested in Worm, or super-heroes, or capital-T Trauma. Because the polish they achieve in Kingslingers will only make going back after, harder.”
