Required Listening
This should be required listening for every non-Indigenous Canadian. This podcast is done with so much respect & care. The survivors sharing their testimony - I don’t know what to say except I’m holding space and honouring their pain, their strength & memories, and I am hoping that in some way that helps to give them some peace & healing. TW: child abuse What happened to these children & their families was government planned, lead and funded pure evil, carried out Christian churches, churches that were paid to kidnap, torture & murder children. Why? Because First Nations refused to their land and resources to the British & Canadian & Provincial governments. And it’s still happening in some form or another. My step-mother was kidnapped and tortured at St. Michaels Residential School in Alert Bay. She died when my youngest sister was pregnant with my oldest niece. Two of my other sisters have died, one just this last month, both far too young after also being tortured by govt agencies. As far as I’m concerned they were murdered by our government. My brother and two remaining sisters are still here but they are far from the people they were meant to be. Some of their children have begun to the healing process but they are also not the people they were meant to be. Thank you for telling the stories of those that can’t & helping those that can. 💕 #landback #landback #landback

These stories need to be told and shared. They are so important and a piece of our shameful history as a country. Thank you to all those that gave pieces of themselves to share this. This is a must listen.

This podcast is a hard one to listen to. It isn’t part of my line up of entertaining podcasts, but it is so important. Hearing the stories of the wretched experiences of these “schools” first hand is paramount to my own learning of this. Duncan has a great way of storytelling and the podcast is...Read full review »
