Blogger Rebekah Matt writes this: "Even after six years of daily copying, one thing remains the same for me: Scripture writing has transformed my time with God’s Word more than anything else I’ve ever done. Rebekah dropped by to share how writing Scripture can challenge and inspire in new ways, and can help you grow as a Christian!

Love has a story. It's bigger than you. It's bigger than me. It comes from old, an overflow of the beautiful love shared between the Father whose heart bursts for the Son, the Son who adores His Father, all wrapped in the glorious, life-giving love of the Spirit. And this great Love knows and cherishes every secret and intimate detail of your story. As we prepare spiritually and physically for the arrival of Hurricane Milton, there is great comfort in being reminded of the Father's great love...

A great day to start is coming up Thursday. It’s “Bring Your Bible Day” to school! To work! You name it.The possibilities are endless! We shared the details and took some...

If there is any phrase that does not describe the world we live in—or our own natural, response to offenses—“slow to anger” is it. Left by ourselves, every minor slight is more offensive than it truly is. We get mad fast and our anger lingers. When someone upsets us, we want an apology, and we want it yesterday. Forgiveness and being “slow to anger” are closely related. The truth is, we would have less to forgive if we weren’t so quick to get irritated. Anger clouds our thoughts and makes us...

To make God-glorifying decisions, we will often need to reject the world’s wisdom. Our guest this morning put it this way: “Saying that we don’t know how to make everyday decisions that glorify God does not mean Christians never make such decisions. Instead, it means that the decisions we make are often informed by cultural conventions; stories that distort, if not deny, the triune God. Our decision-making cannot depend on such conventions.” Dr. James Spencer from the D.L. Moody Center...

Some Christian doctrines are weightier than others. When discussing Christian theology, many of us have heard the helpful quote attributed to Augustine, “In the essentials, unity, in the non-essentials liberty, and in all things charity.” There is much to be learned from this quote, but did you know that many Bible teachers identify four different categories of doctrinal weight? Our good friend Doug Eaton helped us with this when he stopped by this morning.

After five years, Kurt and Kate took to the road and returned to Lighthouse Ministries Family Store in Brandon! They've recently renovated that location, and it was wonderful to reconnect with the ministry to get an update on all their services that include residential programs, feeding and sheltering the homeless, and outreach centers within their thrift stores to assist low-income and at-risk families in West Central Florida. The Lord is on the move in and through this ministry, as lives...

Why would a person take his own life, especially a young person who has so much to live for? When our natural instinct is to do everything in our power to preserve and protect our personal well-being, why would anyone kill himself? Suicide, though, doesn’t end all pain because it is never a solitary act with a single consequence of a life ended. When one person takes his/her life, a host of other lives are sucked into the vortex. Every person who commits suicide leaves others behind lamenting...

Remember Christian singer/songwriter Keith Green? Here’s a line from the song How Can They Live Without Jesus: “…he’s not just a religion/With steeples and bells/Or a salesman who will sell you/The things you just want to hear..”That first line in particular. It was clear that Green – born in 1953 – had that Boomer suspicion of all things structured about the faith. For him, sincerity lay in a lack of structure.
The more structure the less real. The less real the less likely to be how Jesus...

Forgiveness. It is so much easier to talk about forgiveness, if you don't have someone in mind to forgive. The truth is, how can we withhold forgiveness from others, when those in Christ have been forgiven much? Listeners weighed in with stories of how they have been hurt.....and how God has helped them to forgive.

What’s your take on near-death and deathbed experiences? Do such experiences typically lead people away from their faith traditions? Do they teach that everyone should expect a wonderful afterlife? Do they teach that there is no judgment? Are they more consistent with Christian teachings or other worldviews, such as New Age beliefs? Do distressing NDEs/DBEs give evidence for hell and forces of evil? Do such experiences encourage us to consult mediums and delve into the occult, or warn us...

How can I pick the right job? Actually, you don't need to choose a job that's "perfect for you." But you do need to be productive in ways that honor God in your work life. Here's a better question: As a believer, how can I determine what I am supposed to do, and then do it well? The doctrine of calling, or vocation, will lead you to the answer. This is a great topic to dive into for all of us as believers, but especially those who are on the younger side of the equation!
