Fun podcast for an American
I’ve always enjoyed kylie’s music, but as an American this podcast helps me understand the profound place she holds in the minds and hearts of many Brits and Australians. Which is interesting but at times strange - listening to the hosts talk, it becomes clear that although there is an abiding affection for Kylie, that affection is accompanied by a weird possessiveness about her public identity and role in pop culture. Kylie’s output, looks, etc. always seem to be judged in relation to this platonic ideal of 80s Kylie, an icon of pure pop joy. That resonates less for those of us who discovered Kylie in the 2000s, but still an interesting listen.
