Elitist Jerks Complain About Fake Smiles for a While
These narrators do concede that they sound like elitist jerks , but then continue to be elitist jerks throughout the entire episode, or at least as far as I could go with it. I, like them, I’ve never seen the appeal of a cruise ship, but this episode is just a condemnation of other peoples fun. And it’s not even original. Or funny. Or enlightening in anyway. They are just pooh-poohing on the whole cruise ships thing. They obviously went into the whole thing with a plan of sabotaging it by bringing their copy of David Foster Wallace‘s essay on cruise ships. Please. Why do anything with a closed mind? I know they said they were going to try to have an open mind at least I think maybe they said that? But they definitely didn’t so they’re just liars. It seems like every podcast these days is just an exploration of ennui.

In episode 1, Amanda and Christopher are great hosts. Excellent voices and both interesting and entertaining. With so many people who can only dream of such things as a vacation, it is hard to stomach at times. Even for me, who agrees with everything they say in the episode. The whole thing comes...Read full review »
