After a year of constant pandemic news, lockdown blues and quarantine frustrations, Filipinos wanted to greet the year 2021 with more optimism. Some did but with a cautious and sombre attitude.
In the news, however, we did not see the usual stream of reports about fireworks injuries that usually get reported on 1st January. Instead, the Filipino were glued to their TVs after news broke out about a young 23-year-old flight attendat from Makati.
Christine Dacera's name would remain a headline for months and her case managed to highlight yet again the many flaws and lacking competencies within our law enforcement agencies, something that come to the detriment of the most vulnerable in Filipino society.
