Description
In this week’s episode, we listen to a teaching that Lama Zopa Rinpoche gave in April 2016 at http://www.fpmt-ldc.org/ (Losang Dragpa Centre )in Malaysia, titled “the kindness of the enemy”. This teaching falls in the category of Lojong, or mind training. These teachings show us how we can change our habituated approach to a situation or an event that would naturally feel uncomfortable and possibly generate anger or frustration. By changing our view and ultimately our reaction, we can avoid suffering from painful emotions and futher harming others and ourselves. he deeper aim of these teachings is to enable us to eventually reach enlightenment so we are be able to truly help others. In this episode, Rinpoche uses the example of a situation in which we become angry with someone, and explains how our usual reaction only brings us suffering and is the cause for us experiencing this situation in the first place. Realizing that we have brought this experience about ourselves due to karma created in the past, we can feel motivated and determined to diminish our anger, while essentially transforming the entire experience. I think this was too long before but I have to say I still don’t think it’s quite right. I think it could be more precise. Is there someone who usually writes/edits teaching descriptions (i.e. on youtube?) who can help write these?
