I have a funny story that I hope Julie reads: I remember being on a camping trip with my dad as a young girl and reading a newspaper article about Julie, which revealed that she loved donuts. That was all it took for her to become my favorite USWNT player haha! I felt I could relate to her—we both loved soccer and donuts! She was like me! It cracks me up that donuts are a part of this podcast.
Julie, thank you for being a role model to me back then and even now. Thank you for being real and showing your funny side even in the midst of fame. I have really enjoyed all of the recent throwbacks to the ‘99ers, as it is so different to learn about it as an adult and recognize how much impact the USWNT had at that time and continues to have!”
