An unlikely suspect, a news segment, and scratch marks. Two days after Christmas, on December 27th, 1986, 20-year-old Cara Knott was driving back to her parent’s home after spending a few days with her boyfriend. Before she left she called her parents to let them know she was on her way.  Cara never made it home. Within hours her family launched a search party and found her white VW Bug parked on an abandoned stretch of Old US 395.  Hours later police found her body in the creek bed under the 395 Bridge.
